European Employee Health Insurance Card, EKUZ
When an employee travels abroad on business or on personal trips, he or she may need to receive medical care, which requires proof of having or being entitled to health insurance. The European Health Insurance Card (Europejska Karta Ubezpieczenia Zdrowotnego (EKUZ)) confirms that you are entitled to health care during your tourist or business trips in most EU countries.
The EKUZ card can only be issued to persons registered with the health insurance system or persons entitled to receive health care services financed from public funds in accordance with national regulations.
EKUZ entitles you to all health care services abroad that are necessary for your health until the end of your stay in the given country. However, it does not cover the costs of planned treatment.
All obligations and rights arise from the regulations of the country of residence, under the same conditions as insured citizens in that country. If there is an obligation for medical co-payments in a particular country, these expenses must also be paid.
Each insured person receives their own card, including children. The EKUZ card is valid upon presentation of the identity card of the child or parent.
Apply for EKUZ card can only be obtained online via IKP, mojeIKP or ePUAP.
