An employee performing work at night has the right to receive a supplement to wages in the amount of 20% of the hourly rate at the level of the minimum wage in a given calendar year.

Night time includes work from 21:00 to 7:00. The calculated night working hours during the specified period are established in a collective or individual employment contract, as well as in the labor regulations by the employer. For example, night time at a certain workplace may be work from 22:00 to 24:00.

An employee whose work schedule provides for at least 3 hours of night work during the day or for whom at least 1/4 of the working time in the calculated period falls at night, is considered a night worker.

To determine the amount of the night work supplement, the minimum wage is divided by the number of working hours that must be worked in a given month of the year (working time is 40 hours for a five-day work week). From 1 January 2025, the minimum wage is 4666 PLN.

Then the night work supplement is calculated at the hourly rate plus 20% (e.g. in January or March 2025, 4666 zł : 168 godzin * 20% dodatek). The calculation is provided in the table below.

The resulting hourly nighttime cost (rate) must be multiplied by the number of hours the employee worked at night in a given month. For example, if you worked at night in January 2025 for 10 hours, the cost of work for these hours will be PLN 333.30 (10 hours * PLN 33.33).

Instead of an hourly nighttime bonus, a permanent lump sum payment may be established, for example, in the case of employees who constantly perform night work.
